Realistic Goals?

The sad part of this book is that I would probably buy it!

It actually refers to clutter and "stuff" that we all need to clean out.

My living room and dining room look so good I've taken the cleaning binge on to others rooms. I probably just recycled at least 200 pounds of magazines that I was "gonna get around to" reading one day. Sigh, that day never came and I keep getting new one monthly. Time to bite the bullet and decide that I don't need to store them.

I also confess to killing a whole village of dust bunnies that lived underneath our bed! I've certainly been making the vacuum cleaner work hard these days too.

Just finished my Bible Study for this week. It was on surrendering!

Here are a few of the positive things I've learned this week.
  • improve my health and mobility
  • become defined by who I am and not what I weigh
  • gained an awareness of the difference between physical, emotional, and spiritual hunger and learned ways to satisfy all three.
  • take negative thoughts captive and think more positively.
  • made new and healthy connections with others
Not bad for one week! We leave tomorrow to go to New York City to see the chicks. I'm really excited to see them as it has been almost a year. Pray that I continue to give it my best effort.

Spring Cleaning!

Yesterday after Curves and prayer walking the neighborhood with neighbor Beckie ......Spring cleaning hit my house big time.

Our little nest (especially during the winter months) resembles a cave. Since I live with a "cave man" it really doesn't bother him at all. However, come the spring this girl like sunshine.

So I bought white sheers to replace the heavy beige one, washed the windows, moved all the furniture and swept under it and decluttered our hot spots (where clutter tends to collect.)

I even threw out a rug that old dog Spot had.....well, spotted to put it mildly. I put up spring pictures and put away winter coats. I found so much cat hair under the furniture that I was pretty sure we could make another cat! It's amazing that we are not all asthmatics.

Neighbor Beckie and fellow Saturday Photo Hunter told me to take a picture of the living room and post it this Saturday for the concept of "Rare". ( Not that I rarely clean or anything like that.)

Just back from second day at Curves and prayer walking. Now Hi-ho, hi-ho, it's off to work I go.

(btw.....Yes, it was may best effort!)

Monday Morning Moaning

Have you really exercised if every muscle in your body isn't screaming at you?

I dragged my lazy daisy self to Curves this morning....45 minutes later and 15 minutes of stretching found me a "dewy daisy" (since southern women don't sweat...we glow!)

I really concentrated on every thing I was doing. I tried really hard to make every move count. I was deliberate in my motions and in my motivation.

I've been going about this all wrong. If you do the right thing for the wrong reason does it still count? If you go about feeling defeated haven't you already lost the battle? If you go to Curves thinking it will never work should be surprised if it doesn't?

Beckie and I took our first stroll this morning. She was pushing her grand baby in the stroller I had Spot the wonder dog with me. (Poor Spot is nearly blind and deaf as a post but always ready to go for a walk)

What did I lose? A pound of crummy attitude, my cares and worries, and the realization that it's not "all about me!"

Thanks God, I needed that!

Vision Casting.....More Adventuresome!

It's Saturday and I'm doing a little Vision Casting....

What would I enjoy doing once I lost weight?

I would really like to go on more mission trips with Mr. Wonderful. It would be nice not to have extra stress on my joints and be able to travel to strange and exotic places.

It would be wonderful to have more physical stamina and be able to "run through the air terminal " without being winded.

Friday Five!

( Title picture stolen taken from Twisted Cinderella )

It's already Friday.....Where has the week gone?

So far it's been a good week in the weight department.

5 things I've done right!

1. Gasp! Weighed myself and once over the shock jump back on the road to health.

2. Enlisted supporters and accountability partners.

3. Remeasured and weigh at Curves and got more accountability partners.

4. Started recording electronically what I eat....Calorie King keeps a record of your eating, calories, carbs, fats, etc. as well as exercise and evaluates it weekly.

5. Daily Bible Study and prayer.

Five Things I want to do this week.

1. Increase my activity level and exercise level.

2. Be aware of what I put in my mouth.

3. Continue to preplan my there is always food to snack on that is healthy.

4. Continue to call, meet and pray with Beckie.

5. Get up and move more!

No Do-Over Awards.....

I dragged my over sized body to Curves yesterday and reintroduced myself.

I was amazed at how much physical stamina I had lost. I was really winded by the time I finished the work out. You would have sworn that I had just finished the Boston Marathon instead a simple 30 minute work out.

I did talk with Curves manager Becky and told her I needed a Do-Over.

She told me that I wouldn't win any awards for the most weight gained and that this has happened many times to other people. (Shoot, there goes my originality award too!) So today we will remeasure and weight and start all over again.

I worked at the mission yesterday moving boxes.....I was really tired by the time I got home. I guess my body was overly tired too because I had a 4 hour episode of calypso heartbeats, racing irregular pulses, higher blood pressure and the mother of all hot flashes. My face and neck turned bright red and I was truly miserable during that time.

This only happens about once or twice a year and the extra fluid weight certainly didn't help. I know from experience that these episodes are not life threatening even though they are scary . This morning everything is back to normal plus I dropped 5.5 pounds ( definitely fluid retention).

So Thank You Jesus that at least 10 pounds wasn't for the other100 plus pounds!

I've just started my own personal Bible Study called "Lose IT for Life" by Steven Arterburn

"It's not about dieting or exercising, although these things play a part. Instead, it's about creating a lifestyle that emphasizes the whole you: your body, mind, emotions, relationships...and especially your spirit."

Daisy Dilemma: How comes it takes a "health crisis" to really appreciate the bodies God has given us? This body is in my dust!

Do Wap, Do Over, Do Better!

I'm heading out the door as I speak. I'll probably have to introduce myself and start all over again. I'm good at do-overs though! It can only get better from here.

I was down another pound this morning.

I've been recording my food choices.
Keeping to about 1800 calories.
Limiting anything white (salt, sugar, flour)
Eating more vegetables and fruits.
Not eating after 9 P.M.
Keeping up with my devotions
Checking in with my accountablity partner (and yes Melli....Beckie did kick my butt out the door to go to Curves today.)

Daisy Dilemma: Life is full of choices.....I've decided I've made enough bad one for awhile so I might as well start making some good one.

Water Weight.....

If you gain's water, if you lose it's fat.

Nice surprise this morning. The scale is down 3.5 pounds and my feet are still puffy. I had run out of my fluid pill on Friday so some of the extra weight is fluid.

I was able to pray with my prayer partner and neighbor Beckie both yesterday and this morning.

She's my accountablity partner so we have agreed together to work on my weight problem. She has permission to ask me anything about my eating or exercise program and I've agreed to answer truthfully and not get offend or mad.

I worked at the mission I was moving 30 to 40 pound boxes all day.

I'm tired, but feel good that I accompllished my goals today.

Birdeye View of My Weight Loss....

This picture pretty much describes my attempts at weight loss lately.

Don't ask, Don't tell....would describe it too.

I found out that what you don't know can hurt you and it pretty much looks like I'm on a destructive course.

When I stepped on the scale this morning I was sure some one else must have had their foot on it too or else I was wearing lead underwear.

I started out this venture at 283.....The scale read 280!

At first I was shocked, then angry, then disappointed, then reality hit me. Just because I haven't been counting calories doesn't mean that my body hasn't.

I thought up countless lame excuses, pointed the blame in every direction, and finally came to the conclusion I had no one to blame but myself.

I know the "beat yourself up game" ....I know the "Why even try" syndrome better, but I'm not finding comfort in either of those extremes anymore.

So I am making a not so quiet "U Turn " this morning and doing what I know I should do and what works.

I need your "atta boy girl" more now than ever before even though I know I deserve them the least right now.

I don't like my body image so it's time I changed it.

Please pray, "the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak"

(but not defeated!) Daisy
