Cooking in Color!

To improve your family's diet effortlessly, offer five servings a day from the rainbow; in return you'll get vitamins, minerals, fiber and more.



Green: Improves eye health; promotes strong bones, teeth, helps cut risk of colon cancer, breast cancers.

best picks: Asparagus, cabbage, broccoli, celery, spinach, zucchine, brussel sprouts, kiwi, honeydew melons.


Red: Improves heart health and memory, lowers risk of some cancers; promotes urinary tract health.

Best picks: Tomatoes, sweet red peppers, radishes, beets, raspberries, apples, guava, strawberries, watermelon.



Purple and Blue: Lowers risk of heart disease; promotes urinary tract health; helps improve memory.

Best picks: Purple onions, eggplant, blueberries, grapes, plums



White and Tan: Slows cholestrol absorption; boosts ability to fight infections; lowers blood pressure.

Best picks: Cauliflower, onions, parsnips, turnips, jicama, garlic




Yellow or Orange: Boosts heart and vision health plus immune system; helps lower risk of prostate cancer.

Best picks: Corn, squash, sweet yellow peppers, oranges, mango, peaches, lemons, pineapple, bananas.

And I just love how wonderful and yummy my plate looks when there is all kinds of color on it!

I love all of those but sadly no one else does. I've been wanting to try fresh asparagus but have no idea of the best way to cook it. Any ideas?

Smile!! I hope so. I had babies spitting up on me and well it was not very colorful more stinky than colorful....but someone has to do it you know.

Ok, those lists of food just made me hungry.. heh. If someone would cook all that stuff for me I'd be all over it.
